The Beginning: Early 1800s
In the heart of Marsala, where Sicily's rich artistic craftsmanship has flourished for centuries, the Li Causi family began their journey in the early decades of the 19th century. What started as a small workshop dedicated to the ancient art of cooperage would grow into a legacy that spans six generations.
Master Francesco's Vision:
Master Francesco Li Causi grew up breathing the rhythms of the workshop, learning the secrets and techniques of barrel-making in an era when craftsmanship was passed down through patient observation and dedicated practice.
In 1925, Master Francesco founded the Li Causi company, establishing the foundation for what would become one of Sicily's most respected cooperages. His commitment to exceptional quality and traditional techniques set the standard that continues to define our work today.
Giuseppe's Apprenticeship:
The Second Generation Within the company's workshop, Master Giuseppe was born into the craft. From his earliest years, he lived among barrels and tools under his father's watchful and loving guidance. Francesco's teaching was rigorous - often requiring Giuseppe to remake the same barrel until it achieved perfection. This dedication to excellence became the cornerstone of the Li Causi philosophy. When Giuseppe became a master cooper himself, he carried forward his father's teachings while adding his own innovations, ensuring that tradition and progress walked hand in hand.

Today, under the leadership of Girolamo Li Causi, Giuseppe's son, our family continues this proud tradition. But as we looked at the hundreds of premium barrels returning from Italy's most prestigious wineries - barrels that had given their first life to exceptional wines - we saw an opportunity that aligned perfectly with our values of craftsmanship and sustainability.
